Loss of Containment (Spillage Training)


Overview

This one day course is designed to introduce staff to the correct procedures for dealing with process and non-process loss of containments safely. The course is delivered in two parts, the first session is classroom based and the second session is delivered on the CATCH live process plant.

Who should attend this course

This course is aimed at anyone working within any process industry that needs to be aware of how to deal with a loss of containment. The course will give the delegates an awareness of procedures, to protect themselves, colleagues, or the environment.

Historically the course has been filled with process operators, craft technicians, Health and Safety staff, and laboratory technicians. Although it is open to anyone who may benefit from loss of containment training.

Aims and objectives

To ensure people are comfortable when confronted with a loss of containment consisting of gas, liquid, powder scenarios including:

• Legislation
• Environmental
• Identifying the risk
• Types of loss of containment
• Immediate response
• Minimising the contaminated area
• Recovery of the substance

Assessment

Assessment is carried out over two identical multiple choice exam papers, issued pre-and post course.
