Apprenticeships

HCF CATCH runs apprenticeship programmes at its Stallingborough facility, giving learners hands-on experience in a real-industry training environment. Apprentices work alongside the same equipment and facilities used across our wider course portfolio, gaining practical skills relevant to the process, energy, and engineering sectors.

Because training takes place on site rather than in live plant conditions, apprentices can build competence and confidence without exposure to real-industry risks.

Apprenticeship programmes at HCF CATCH are built around real-world learning in a controlled environment. Rather than learning on a live operational plant where mistakes carry genuine hazards, apprentices develop their skills on the same equipment and facilities used throughout the centre's wider training portfolio. This approach allows learners to make errors, ask questions, and refine their technique in a safe, supervised setting. The result is a confident, competent workforce ready to apply their knowledge in genuine industrial conditions. With courses spanning the process, energy, engineering, and renewable sectors, apprentices graduate with practical abilities that directly translate to the needs of employers across the Humber region and beyond.

The Pathways Into Industry model at HCF CATCH is designed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and workplace practice. Apprentices benefit from a curriculum that combines structured learning with hands-on exposure to the kind of plant, tooling, and systems they will encounter in their future careers. The facility's location in Stallingborough, North East Lincolnshire, places it at the heart of a region with significant industrial activity, giving learners a genuine sense of the sector they are entering. Throughout their apprenticeship, individuals build competence steadily, with assessment and feedback woven into every stage of their development.

Apprenticeships at HCF CATCH are more than a qualification; they are the beginning of a sustainable career in a vital industry. The centre works closely with employers to ensure that the skills taught reflect current industry demands, from health and safety practice to modern engineering techniques. Learners are supported by experienced trainers who understand both the technical requirements of the sector and the importance of developing confident, responsible professionals. With the growing emphasis on renewable energy and process safety, apprentices trained here are well positioned to contribute to the region's industrial future and to take advantage of the many opportunities that continue to emerge across the engineering landscape.
